据市国土房管局有关负责人介绍，天津蓟县国家地质公园以誉满天下的“蓟县中上元古界标准地层剖面”为保护中间，包括中上元古界国家天然保护区、八仙山石英砂岩峰林峡谷景区、九山顶石英砂岩峰林景区、黄崖关断崖地貌景区、盘山花岗地貌景区、九龙山碳酸盐岩峰丛景区、府君山地质布局遗址景区共7大景区。
在地质公园树立前期，开端划定的地质公园一般保护区规划是342平方公里，由于划定的规划大(约占山区面积的40%)，既不利于景区的有用保护和管理工作，也不利于蓟县县域经济发展。这次生态红线的划定，将公园7个中间景区的面积判定下来，红线内阻止爆破、开山采石、砍伐放牧等不利于地质遗址保护的各项活动，制止修建与地质遗址保护和地质公园方案无关的修建物，现有居民点按照方案逐步迁并。这次生态红线划定后，对保护好7个中间景区的动植物资源、地质遗址资源、生态资源等具有重要意义，更有利于缔造精品景区。
